Yuma County has a diverse population that is seeing continual growth. Many contributors to this phenomenon is the immigration from California, Mexico, and cold weather states. Yuma is considered home to many winter visitors due to its moderate winter months, big city amenities, and small town friendliness.

Housing is readily available in all communities in Yuma County, and if it is not already built, the year round construction industry can provide a new home in a short period of time at reasonable costs.  Transient housing is in large demand due to the winter visitors.

This data is revised periodically by the Arizona Department of Economic Security (AZDES).  Net migration into Yuma County is anticipated to increase by an average of 2.5% through 2017 and gradually taper off to an average of 0.74 % in the last ten years.

Yuma County is heavily populated with a Hispanic heritage; 55.7% of its residents are Hispanic or Latino with the non-Hispanic residents representing 44.4% of the County’s population. 

The age distribution of Yuma County's population varies throughout the county. What really cements Yuma’s image as a place for retirees is the proportion of residents age 65 and older.
