Higher Education

Graduating high school students and the local workforce have several opportunities at their fingertips to pursue a higher education practically in their backyard. Arizona Western College (AWC), Northern Arizona University- Yuma (NAU) and University of Phoenix all have remote sites or campuses located in Yuma County. Each of these facilities make every effort towards the success of their students within our area.

At the heart of a skilled workforce is a strong educational system. AWC, NAU-Yuma, Yuma School District One and Yuma Union High School District share programs, resources, services and personnel to achieve greater lifelong learning opportunities of the highest quality for all.

AWC is primarily a commuter college that focuses on awarding students with an Associate's degree.  The college prepares students for work, meeting personal goals or transitioning to other studies.  Students can easily transfer credits and degrees earned at AWC to Northern Arizona Universities (NAU) online campus also located in Yuma.

Northern Arizona University (NAU) is based out of Flagstaff but also encompasses 31 on-line campuses across the state.  The Yuma campus offers both Undergraduate and Graduate programs that continue the education of students from AWC.  NAU offers the credibility of a traditional university with the flexibility of a robust Distance Learning Program.
