Sales Tax Rates

The Yuma County sales tax rate is 1.5%; in San Luis, Somerton, and Wellton it is 2.5% and in Yuma City 1.7%. Yuma City has the County’s only bed tax, which is 2.0%.


Business Tax Incentives

Yuma County has been designated as an Enterprise Zone. Greater Yuma Economic Corporation (GYEDC) is prepared to discuss the benefits to qualifying firms.


Workers' Compensation Rates

In addition to relatively low utility rates, businesses in Yuma County (and in Arizona overall) typically pay much lower workers' compensation premiums than firms in other parts of the country. In a recent nationwide survey, Arizona ranked 49th out 51 states (including the District of Columbia) for having the lowest workers' compensation premiums. Arizona ranks #2 nationwide for lowest worker's compensation premium rates; excluding issued dividends.

Arizona is one of 19 states that offer State-Run Workers Compensation Funds. The Arizona State Comp Fund (SCF) is the largest providere of worker's compensation insurance in the state, providing coverage for more than 54,000 companies. On June 7, 2006 the SCF Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve a $70 million dividend for 2006 qualified policy holders, which is a $10 million increase over last years dividend payout. SCF has returned a divident to qualified policy holders every year since 1970, totaling more than $1.1 billion.
